HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption came out aggressive against Southern Connecticut State, as Lilina Shiers forced Owls goalkeeper Makenzi Pastreck to make an early save. However, Pastreck made seven first-half saves to preserve Southern Connecticut's 1-0 halftime lead.

Assumption continued to pressure the Owls in the second half, with Natalie Matz, Moulton, and Geniuch each forcing saves. Southern Connecticut nearly doubled its advantage in the 66th minute when Elizabeth Bishop's header struck the crossbar. The Greyhounds pushed for the equalizer late, as Elizabeth Schoeneberger registered a shot on goal in the 88th minute, but Pastreck turned away the attempt to secure the 1-0 victory.
