RINDGE, NH – The No. 10 nationally ranked Assumption University field hockey team extended its winning streak to four games after a 5-0 win over Franklin Pierce University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption wasted little time getting on the board, as
Marta Brzoska scored just 55 seconds into the contest off a feed from
Daisy Stone to give the Greyhounds an early 1-0 advantage. Assumption continued to control the opening quarter, and
Caroline Mastergeorge doubled the lead at 13:51, sending the Greyhounds into the second period up 2-0.
The Greyhounds added to their advantage in the second quarter. At 20:55, Brzoska struck for her second goal of the afternoon, finishing an opportunity set up by
Julia Carbone to extend the lead to 3-0 heading into halftime.
Assumption put the game away with two more goals in the third quarter.
Mieke Rentsch made it 4-0 at 39:53 off an assist from
Julia Legere before
Kelsey McCleary scored just 58 seconds later, with Mastergeorge providing the assist, to push the advantage to 5-0.
The Greyhounds' defense kept Franklin Pierce off the scoreboard throughout the afternoon, limiting the Ravens to just three shots and one shot on goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Abbie Derosier only needed one save for her second straight shutout.
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 31-3 and took 14 penalty corners to two.
- The Blue and White have outscored their opposition 20-2 over that stretch.
