WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team scored three power play goals, as the Greyhounds knocked off Saint Anselm College, 5-3 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption was the first team to score, as
Caroline Lilley scored while short-handed 5:08 into the opening frame. Saint Anselm tied the game just over the halfway mark, as Hailey Tullo redirected the shot from the point into the top corner of the cage. The Gryehounds regained the lead before the end of the opening 20 minutes, as
Ava McGaffigan found the back of the net.
Kayla McGaffigan extended the Assumption advantage to 3-1 with a power play goal at 1:07 of the middle period. The Hawks trimmed the deficit down to one, as Lauren Waldo netted an unassisted score. The Hounds would regain a two-goal advantage at 12:27 of the second, as
Heather Ajakie scored on the power play.
Brooklyn Schneiderhan cut the margin in half to begin the third period, but
Alaina Whitesell scored the game-clinching goal with 4:56 left in regulation, as she lit the lamp while on the power play, making it 5-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser logged 36 saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 51-39, while the Hawks won 38-of-71 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 3-of-6 on the power play, while killing all three of Saint Anselm's advantages.
- Saint Anselm still leads the all-time series 7-3-1.
