Men's Ice Hockey doubles up Franklin Pierce, 6-3

WORCESTER, MASS.— The Assumption University men's ice hockey team turns a two-goal deficit into a 6-3 win over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast 10 Conference action on Friday night at the Worcester Ice Center.

THE BASICS:
Score: Assumption University 6, Franklin Pierce University 3
Records: Greyhounds (20-8-2, 14-3-2 NE10) | Ravens (9-19-0, 7-12-0 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Slow out of the gate, the Greyhounds were outshot 13-9 in the opening period. The Hounds let up an even-strength goal five minutes in, and a power-play goal made matters worse, giving the Ravens a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

Assumption had a window open for them in the form of a power play at the start of the second period. Johnathan Surrette did his thing, scoring on the man-advantage exactly 100 seconds into the period. The Ravens got it back, making it 3-1 a couple of minutes later.

Then the Hounds got momentum. Dean Simeone got the Blue and White back to within a goal just 36 seconds after the Ravens' goal. Surrette scored again in the closing minutes of the second period, and suddenly the game was tied 3-3 heading into the third.

Assumption scored an early one; Leo Piandes buried it 1:47 into the last period. Nick Demio tacked on a power play goal for some insurance. Daniel Lemanski clipped the Ravens' wings with the empty net goal at 18:47.
