LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team had a strong first quarter en route to a 17-7 win at Georgian Court University, in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as they scored the first seven goals of the contest, all coming in the first quarter.
Boomer Staunton scored three times,
Finnegan McKeon struck twice, while
Jacob Wilson and
Max Lowenberg added goals. Georgian Court eventually broke through in the final minute of the first, as Brodie Seaborn scored with 21 seconds left in the frame.
The scoring slowed down in the second, after the host scored at the 10:19 marker, the Greyhounds saw Jack Kelly and
Braden Mutschler joined Staunton in the goal column, as the Blue and White lead would expand to 10-2 at the intermission.
Staunton opened the second half with his fifth tally of the day, before
Ben McHugh pushed the advantage to 12-2. After Georgian Court scored twice, the Greyhounds went on a 3-1 run to close out the third, with
Patrick Johnston,
Patrik McGrath, and McHugh finding the back of the cage for the Hounds. The fourth quarter was a mere formality, as both teams scored twice, with Wilson and
Cole Rodgers scoring for Assumption.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran and James Lopes combined for eight saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Georgian Court 47-27, while also winning 17-of-27 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds were 2-for-5 on the extra man advantage, while the Lions were 3-for-5.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 4-1
