Women's Basketball pulls away from Franklin Pierce, 62-46

RINDGE, N.H.—The Assumption University women's basketball team picked up their 19th win of the season, as they picked up a 62-46 win at Franklin Pierce University in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon. 

THE BASICS:
Score: Assumption University 62, Franklin Pierce University 48
Records: Greyhounds (19-6, 11-6 NE10) | Ravens (2-24, 1-16 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
The game started with both teams trading baskets, but with Franklin Pierce leading 8-7, Assumption went on a 14-4 run powered by six points by Teagan Curran, giving the Greyhounds a 21-12 lead after one. After the Ravens scored the opening bucket of the second quarter, the Hounds went on a 7-0 run to go up 28-14. The hosts would trim their lead down to 11, but Teagan Kamm closed out the first half on a personal 4-0 run, giving Assumption a 35-20 lead entering the intermission. 
 
In the third quarter, the two teams traded buckets. Madison Handrahan joined Curran in leading the Greyhounds with four points apiece. The Blue and White shot 50.0 percent from the field in the frame, but the Ravens' defense forced five turnovers to keep the score tight in the quarter. Assumption carried their 15-point advantage into the fourth, but after a quick layup by Kamm, Franklin Pierce hit two three-pointers to draw within 11 (51-40). The lead would hover around 11 points for the majority of the quarter, but the Greyhounds would finish off the game on a 7-2 run to pull away for a 62-46 final. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Teagan Curran had a game-high 19 points, while adding seven rebounds and three assists. 
  • Teagan Kamm chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, and one steal. 
  • Assumption outrebounded Franklin Pierce 38-26, while also dominating the points in the paint (28-14). 
  • Assumption now leads the all-time series 34-18
