GARDEN CITY, N.Y.— The Assumption University women's basketball team held off a late run by Adelphi University, as they came away with a 51-48 Northeast 10 Conference win, Wednesday evening.
THE BASICS:

Records: Greyhounds (15-5, 8-5 NE10) | Panthers (10-9, 4-8 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was all Assumption in the first quarter, as they scored the first three baskets of the game to go up 6-0 before Adelphi got on the board at 7:08 of the opening frame.
Emily Collins powered a 13-2 run for the Greyhounds to close out the first quarter, up 19-4. The script would flip in the second quarter, as Adelphi nearly erased a 17-point deficit (21-4) in a matter of nine minutes, as they opened the frame on a 14-4 run.
Thai Davis and Collins finished out the half by connecting from long range, giving the Hounds a 29-21 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, the Panthers used a 14-9 run to trim an eight-point advantage down to three (38-35) with 3:36 left in the frame. The Greyhounds responded by ending the third quarter on a 5-0 run to regain an eight-point advantage (43-35) heading into the fourth. Adelphi would not go quietly, as they got within one (49-48) in the final minute, but
Emily Collins knocked down a pair of free throws with ten seconds showing on the game clock to go up by three. Madison Williams attempted a three-pointer as time expired, but Collins was there for a rejection at the buzzer.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Emily Collins had a game-high 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while adding three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block to her line.
- Teagan Kamm added 15 points, while Teagan Curran chipped in ten points.
- Assumption outrebounded Adelphi 38-32, while also outscoring the hosts 24-22 in the paint.
- The Greyhounds now lead the all-time series 13-7.
