WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team opened their 2026 campaign with an emphatic 22-4 win over D'Youville University in non-conference action, Friday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption was the only team to score in the first quarter, as
Boomer Staunton scored both goals in the frame. In the second, D'Youville tied the game with back-to-back goals to begin the frame, but the Greyhounds answered with authority, scoring eight straight goals in the final 9:42 of the half with
Ben McHugh and Staunton combining for five goals.
The third quarter was all Assumption, as they outshot the opposition 20-5, while netting two of their six goals in the frame on the man-advantage. The Greyhounds would head into the third period up 16-2. In the fourth,
Finnegan McKeon extended the hosts' lead to 17-2. After D'Youville scored, the Blue and White would pull away with five more goals to go up 22-3. The Saints tacked on one last goal in the final 65 seconds to make the final score 22-4.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded 11 saves, while Nate Burns and James Lopes combined for four saves.
- Assumption outshot D'Youville 65-30, while the Saints won 13-of-25 faceoffs.
