WORCESTER, Mass.— The Assumption University women's ice hockey team saw two program records fall, as the Greyhounds raced past Saint Michael's 9-0 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action, Saturday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Assumption started strong, as they netted three goals in the first period, as
Kayla McGaffigan lit the lamp twice, before
Natalie Joiner added one in the final two minutes of the frame. In the second, McGaffigan saw the hats fly at the 3:20 marker, while on the power play, making it 4-0 Assumption.
Heather Ajakie and
Kaitlyn Cielo both found the back of the net, before Joiner capped off the middle period with her second of the game, making it 7-0 after 40 minutes of action. The third period saw
Caroline Lilley and Annebel Ziskin scoring, pushing the final score to 9-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Jadyn Weiser and Maria Suarez combined for a 15-save shutout.
- Kayla McGaffigan scored the first hat-trick in program history, while adding an assist for a four-point afternoon.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 52-15, while the Purple Knights won 28-of-53 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds went 3-of-8 on the power play, while holding their opposition scoreless on three power plays.
- The Hounds scored a program record nine goals in the win.
- Before the game, the Assumption University Athletic Department honored three seniors, Mary McKiernan, Jadyn Weiser, and Annabel Ziskin.
- Assumption still leads the all-time series 11-0-1.
