Baseball edged at AIC in NE10 opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— The Assumption University baseball team opened up Northeast 10 Conference action with a pair of tight losses against American International College, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: American International College 5, Assumption University 3
American International was the first team to score, as they plated one run in the top of the first, before plating two more in the top of the second. The Yellow Jackets would continue to add to their lead in the top of the fifth with two more runs to go up 5-0. 

Assumption broke through in the bottom of the fifth, as Will Panza drove in Will Novak with a double down the right field line. Tony Salvatelli had an RBI single to left field, as he plated Nick Paharik on the play, before Chris Klein drove in Panza with a single through the left side of the infield. 
 
Game Two Score: American International College 3, Assumption University 2
It was a pitchers' duel to begin the game, as the first run of game two came in the top of the fourth, as American International capitalized on a throwing error, to go up 1-0. The Yellow Jackets added two insurance runs at the top of the seventh, as Albis Felix hit a two-run home run to right-center field, making it 3-0. 
 
In the bottom of the seventh, Assumption was down to their last out with pinch hitter Nolan Bell facing an 0-2 count. He was hit by a pitch. After stealing second and back-to-back walks, Will Panza drove in a pair with a single to right field. The Greyhounds loaded the bases once again, before flying out to center to end the game, falling 3-2. 
 
Tiarnan Doyle got the start on the hill for the Hounds, as he tossed 6.1 innings while striking out seven.
