SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Led by Boomer Staunton's ten goals, the Assumption University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 24-12 Northeast 10 Conference win over American International College, Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started fast, as Boomer Staunton and Patrick Johnston scored in the opening five minutes of the game. After three goals by American International, the Greyhounds responded with two goals from Brian Shortt and Staunton to regain a 4-3 lead after the first stanza. The Hounds carried their momentum into the second, as Maxz Lowenberg, Finnegan McKeon, and Staunton all found the back of the net to go up 7-3. Following two goals by AIC, Staunton, Patrik McGrath, and Lowenberg made it 10-5 before Seven Gillingham made it 10-6 at the break. 
 
In the second half, Staunton started the third with three of the next four scores, making it 13-7 with 6:42 left in the quarter. The Greyhounds continued to add to their lead, as it would grow to 16-9 before the end of the third. In the fourth, the Blue and White offense would continue to fire on all cylinders, as McGrath, Shortt, Tim Bengston, Lowenberg, Staunton, and Thomas Smith would all score, making the final score 24-12. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Shane Corcoran and James Lopes combined for 11 saves. 
• Boomer Staunton's 10 goals are the second-most goals in a single game in Division II this season, only trailing Vinny Butrico of Wingate.
• Patrik McGrath added four goals and six assists, while Max Lowenberg tallied four goals and four assists. 
• Assumption outshot American International 53-38, while the Greyhounds won 21-of-39 faceoffs. 
• The Greyhounds now leads the all-time series 22-2
