WORCESTER, Mass.— Assumption University men's ice hockey head coach,
Michael Looney, was named as a finalist for the 2025-26 Edward Jeremiah Division II/III National Player of the Year Award, as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Thirteen coaches who have enjoyed on-ice success in 2025-26 have been named finalists for the
Edward Jeremiah Award, given annually to the Division II-III Men's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. Named in honor of the former Dartmouth head coach and sponsored by CCM, the Jeremiah Award will be announced on Thursday in Utica, NY.
For the second time in his career,
Michael Looney was named the Lance "Duke" Brady Coach of the Year, after leading Assumption (23-8-2, 15-3-2 NE10) to the NE10 regular season title and NE10 Championship. The Greyhounds are 16-1-1 in their last 18 games and won their third title in five years under Looney's direction.
The nominees represent any coach who won or shared Coach of the Year honors in his conference this past season, as well as coaches whose teams advanced to the NCAA Men's Division III Ice Hockey Championships, to be hosted by Utica University this weekend.
