WORCESTER, Mass.—The Assumption University baseball team fell in their home opener Friday afternoon, as the Greyhounds dropped a 7-1 decision to Franklin Pierce University in Northeast 10 Conference action at H.L. Rocheleau '24 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Evan Remington started strong on the hill for Assumption, as the right-hander struck out seven of the first nine batters that he faced. Franklin Pierce broke through on their second time through the lineup, as they plated six runs in the top of the fourth inning, which was capped off by a three-run home run by Bryan Sanders II over the right field fence.
The Greyhounds answered in the bottom of the frame, as
Eric Giarnese 's single through the right side of the infield, driving in
James McDermott on the play. The Hounds would threaten in the sixth and seventh innings, but they could not cut into the deficit. FPU tacked on an insurance run in the top of the eighth, pushing the final score to 7-1.
Luke Barry and
Jack Lizewski combined to pitch 3.2 innings in relief, where they allowed three hits and struck out three batters.
