Baseball falls twice to Saint Anselm

WORCESTER, Mass.—The Assumption University baseball team dropped a pair of Northeast 10 Conference contests to Saint Anselm College, Saturday afternoon at H.L. Rocheleau '24 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Saint Anselm College 7, Assumption University 3
Saint Anselm started early as they plated three runs in the top of the first inning, as George Slauson had a double to center field before scoring on a Peter Fischer single to right. 
 
Assumption got their first hit in the bottom of the fourth, as James McDermott legged out a triple to right field, before scoring on a Christopher Manzo sacrifice fly to left field. The Hawks answered right away, as Coleson Kaluza hit a solo home run and Brendan Gonzalez had an RBI single to right, making it 5-1 through five innings. Saint Anselm continued to add to their advantage, as they plated one run in the seventh and the eighth to go up 7-1. The Greyhounds would not go away quietly, as two runs scored in the ninth, making the final score 7-3. 


Game Two Score: Saint Anselm College 19, Assumption University 6
In game two, Saint Anselm scored one run with a solo home run by Jackson Powers, but Assumption responded in the bottom of the frame, with Tommy Ocasal going deep on the first pitch of the bottom of the frame. The Greyhounds would add two more runs in the inning, as Chris Klein tripled home Michael Caron, while Manzo drove in Klein with a single up the middle. 
 
The Hawks tied the game in the top of the second, with a pair of home runs, before going up 6-3 with three runs in the top of the fourth. Michael Caron would tie the game at 6-6 with one swing, as he blasted a three-run shot in the bottom of the frame for the hosts. Saint Anselm would break the game open with four runs in the fifth, six in the sixth, and three more in the seventh to run away with a 19-6 final score.
