WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 17 nationally ranked Assumption University men's lacrosse team fell to the two-time defending national champions, Adelphi University, 19-6 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brian Shortt scored the first goal of the game for Assumption, as he found the back of the cage halfway through the first quarter. Adelphi responded with five-straight tallies to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.
Ben McHugh netted back-to-back goals for the Greyhounds to get within two (5-3), before Noah Gibson answered for the Panthers.
Patrik McGrath scored in the final two minutes of the second quarter to make the halftime score 6-4.
The second half was all Adelphi, as the No. 1 nationally-ranked team scored eight goals in the third quarter and five more in the fourth.
Boomer Staunton was the lone Hound to find the back of the cage for the hosts, but it would be the Panthers that would come away with a 19-6 final score.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Shane Corcoran recorded a career-high 20 saves in the crease for the Greyhounds.
- Adelphi outshot Assumption 48-31, while also winning 16-of-28 faceoffs.
- The Panthers still lead the all-time series 16-0
