Baseball splits Friday twinbill at Saint Michael's

COLCHESTER, VT.—The Assumption University baseball team earned a Friday split at Saint Michael's College. After falling 6-5 in 11 innings, the Greyhounds bounced back with a 5-0 win in the nightcap, in Northeast 10 Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One Score: Saint Michael's College 6, Assumption University 5 – 11 Innings
Assumption was the first team to get on the scoreboard, as Tony Salvatelli drove in Anthony Marco with a single to left center field in the top of the third. The Greyhounds would expand on their lead in the fourth, as Christopher Manzo and Michael Caron had back-to-back doubles, with Caron scoring on a flair single to right center by Eric Giarnese, to go up 3-0. Saint Michael's answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 4-3. 
 
The Greyhounds tied the game in the top of the fifth, as Caron drove in Chris Klein with a double down the right field line, before the Purple Knights regained the lead with a bases-loaded walk to go back in front 5-4. Marco tied the game once again for Assumption in the eighth, as his single through the right side of the infield plated Caron from third, sending the game to extra innings. The hosts would walk it off in the bottom of the 11th, as Jack Weber drove in Colin Kinsella with a single up the middle. 

Game Two Score: Assumption University 5, Saint Michael's College 0
For the second-straight game, Assumption was the first team to score, as Chris Klein hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the second. The Greyhounds added to their lead in the fifth inning, as they plated two runs with Caron and Salvatelli picking up the RBI in the frame, to go up 3-0. 
 
Patrick McManus made it 4-0 with a double down the right field line in the sixth, before Manzo scored on a throwing error in the seventh. Tiarnan Doyle picked up his first complete game of his career, as he tossed 7.0 innings of shutout baseball, where he struck out seven and allowed just two hits.
