WORCESTER, Mass.—The Assumption University baseball team completed the upset of No. 18 nationally ranked Bentley University, as the Greyhounds picked up a 5-3 win over the Falcons in Northeast 10 Conference action, Wednesday afternoon at H.L. Rocheleau '24 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Bentley started early, as they plated one run in the top of the first inning, as Jared Berardino scored on a wild pitch. Assumption waited until the bottom of the fifth to get on the scoreboard, as
Nick Paharik hit a solo home run to lead off the frame. The Greyhounds would take their first lead of the day, as
Eric Giarnese ripped an infield single to the shortstop with the bases loaded, scoring
Christopher Manzo from third. The Hounds would score two more runs in the inning to go up 4-1.
The Falcons responded in the top of the seventh, as Nick Pappas scored on a Brendan Sencaj flyout to left field.
Michael Caron answered right back for the hosts, as the Assumption freshman hit a solo home run to right field, regaining a three-run advantage, entering the top of the eighth. Bentley cut the deficit down to two by scoring a run on a balk call in the top of the eighth, but
Cole Constantine got Stan DeMartinis III to strikeout looking with the bases loaded to end the rally. In the ninth inning,
Luke Barry came in and got three strikeouts, including getting Jake Maydak swinging to end the game.
Ryan Cloutier got the start for the Greyhounds, where he allowed just one run in 3.0 innings and struck out three. The Hounds' bullpen produced five pitchers (
Jack Lizewski,
Mitchell Canuel,
Ethan Barrington,
Cole Constantine, and
Luke Barry), as they combined for 6.0 innings, six hits, two earned runs, and five strikeouts.
