WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University women's soccer team dropped their final non-conference match of the year as the Greyhounds fell to Southern New Hampshire University 3-1 Saturday evening at Normand R. Marois '57 Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption applied pressure early, putting three shots on goal over the opening 18 minutes, but Southern New Hampshire struck first. Avary Hall converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute to give the
Penmen a 1-0 advantage. The Greyhounds kept creating chances and were rewarded in the 37th minute when
Ava Normandin found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, sending the game into halftime tied 1-1.
Assumption came out aggressively after the break, recording five shots over the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Southern New Hampshire regained the lead at 51:56 when Mollie Cahalane scored off an assist from Hall to make it 2-1.
The Penmen added to their advantage in the 60th minute, as Cahalane scored her second goal of the game to push the margin to 3-1. The Greyhounds continued to press for a response, with
Elizabeth Schoeneberger putting two more shots on goal down the stretch, but SNHU goalkeeper Isabel Hughes kept Assumption off the board to preserve the 3-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kaylin Hebert recorded four saves in the loss.
- Assumption outshot Southern New Hampshire 21-13, while only nine shots went on target.
- The Greyhounds had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks, but they were called offsides six times.
