ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Assumption University volleyball team wrapped up their New York road trip with a 3-0 sweep of Roberts Wesleyan University in non-conference action, Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption grabbed an early advantage in the opening set, building an 11-6 lead behind three kills from
Cate Wettstone and blocks involving
Kaitlyn Montgomery, Lilyanna Petrocelli and
Nora Sharkey. Roberts Wesleyan rallied to take a 16-14 lead, but the Greyhounds answered with three straight points to retake the lead. With Assumption leading 18-17, kills from
Brooke Bowbliss and Petrocelli sparked a four-point run that pushed the advantage to 22-17. The Greyhounds closed out the frame, 25-19.
Roberts Wesleyan controlled much of the second set and built a 20-15 advantage before Assumption mounted a late comeback. Petrocelli started the rally with a kill before Bowbliss recorded consecutive service aces to pull the Greyhounds within one, 20-19. After the Redhawks took the lead at 21-19, Assumption scored the final six points of the set. Wettstone and
Grace Presswood recorded kills, while
Brennah Abilheira-Cargill delivered three service aces during the closing run to give the Greyhounds a 25-21 victory.
The Greyhounds held the lead for most of the third set and used a three-point run featuring a Petrocelli kill and a
Makenna Glenn service ace to take a 20-16 advantage. Roberts Wesleyan battled back to tie the frame at 22-22 and again at 24-24. Assumption responded when a Redhawks attack error gave the Greyhounds match point before Montgomery and Bowbliss combined for a block to finish off the 26-24 victory and complete the sweep.
