WORCESTER, Mass. – Three Assumption University student-athletes earned Northeast 10 Conference weekly honors, as
Kaiden Brochu repeated as the NE10 Football Rookie of the Week, while both
Nick Smith and
Cody Holbert earned Football and Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday afternoon.
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Smith, Assumption
Senior | Linebacker | Danbury, Conn.
Smith had a career game against Pace on Saturday. He recorded a game-high and career-high 16 tackles, plus two sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery , and a pass breakup in the 34-27 win over the Setters.
Football Rookie of the Week
Kaiden Brochu, Assumption
Sophomore | Running Back | Dudley, Mass.
Brochu continued his strong start to the season, logging 12 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 34-27 win over Pace.
Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Cody Holbert, Assumption
Senior| Forward | Marshfield, Mass.
Holbert continued his torrent pace to begin the year, recording three goals and adding two more assists, as he continues to lead the nation in both goals (9) and points (20). In a midweek contest against Bentley, he extended his streak with two goals in a 2-2 tie against the Falcons in a non-conference matchup. Holbert capped off the week with a goal and a pair of assists as the Greyhounds defeated Saint Michael's College, 3-2, in the NE10 opener.
