WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University women's ice hockey team made it back-to-back wins to complete the weekend sweep of Saint Michael's College, 6-2 in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action on Saturday afternoon at the Worcester Ice Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption wasted little time getting on the board, as
Annie Forker scored just 36 seconds into the contest off assists from
Alexa Hanrahan and
Rachel Agerter. Saint Michael's answered at 3:48 to tie the game, but the Greyhounds regained the lead late in the opening period when
Haven Mills found the back of the net at 16:35, sending Assumption into the first intermission up 2-1.
The Greyhounds broke the game open with three goals in a span of 5:46 during the second period.
Isabella Zolezzi made it 3-1 at 4:04 before
Megan Tremblay converted on the power play at 6:44 off assists from Hanrahan and
Sydney Burnevik.
Alaina Whitesell followed at 9:50, scoring off a feed from Burnevik to extend the Assumption advantage to 5-1. Saint Michael's answered at 14:24, but the Greyhounds carried a 5-2 lead into the second intermission.
Assumption added to its lead just 2:04 into the third period, as
Natalie Joiner scored off an assist from
Kayla McGaffigan to make it 6-2. The Greyhounds held Saint Michael's scoreless the rest of the way to secure the 6-2 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Maria Suarez recorded 10 saves in the win.
- Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 65-12 and won 40-of-66 faceoffs.
- The Greyhounds were 1-for-7, while the Purple Knights were scoreless on six attempts.
- Ten different skaters for the Hounds had at least one point, while Alexa Handrahan, Alaina Whitesell, Sydney Burnevik, and Natalie Joiner all had two points.
- Assumption now leads the all-time series 13-0-1.
