Box Score Worcester, Mass. (October 18) -- The Assumption women's soccer team fell to Bentley University, 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night. Bentley improves its overall mark to 5-9-1, while the Greyhounds drop to 3-10-1 and 1-10-1 in the Northeast-10.
The Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead as junior Molly Alfieri gave her side a 1-0 lead in just the second minute. Assumption equalized in the 25th minute through sophomore Andrea Bates (Holden, Mass./Wachusett). A shot off the post from junior Elizabeth Blasser (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) fell right to Bates and gave her an easy goal with the net wide open.
The winning goal was set up by a cross in from the left wing, which was headed on by sophomore Jenna Skagerlind to Laura Muise, who then headed the ball inside the left post to give Bentley a 2-1 lead, which they would hold onto over the last 19 minutes of the match.
The Hounds hit the field next Saturday, October 22nd, when the team travels to Southern New Hampshire University. The match will begin at 1 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
