Phoenix, Ariz. (March 12) -- Senior Will Langevin (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) led the Greyhounds with six goals and one assist as Assumption used six third-quarter goals to pull away in an 11-7 victory over Adams State on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play. The game wraps up a two-day trip to Arizona for the Greyhounds, who improve to 3-0 with the win. Adams State falls to 1-5 overall.
The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-2 lead after the first quarter and headed into the half tied at 3-3 before exploding for six goals in the third and holding a 9-5 lead. The two teams were even in the final period as the Hounds remained perfect on the season. Langevin, the current Northeast-10 Player of the Week, led the offense with his six-goal performance, along with a two-goal showing by senior John Murphy (Walpole, Mass./Bridgton). Junior Chris Noyes (Tewskbury, Mass./Central Catholic) posted 11 ground balls, had two caused turnovers and an assist and was 12-for-16 in faceoffs. Senior goalie Scott Vogel (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) made eight saves in the victory for the Greyhounds.
Mac Piper led the Adams State offense with two goals and one assist, while Chris Ruffin made six saves in net while taking the loss.
The Greyhounds are back in action on Wednesday, March 16th as Dominican visits Multi-Sport Stadium for a 6 p.m. start in non-conference play.
