Women's Soccer Falls to Southern Connecticut, 1-0

Worcester, Mass. (September 14) -- The Assumption women's soccer team fell to undefeated Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, on a goal in the 86th minute.

For more than 85 minutes, the game remained scoreless and the Hounds outplayed the Owls, playing a strong ball-control style game. 

In the 86th minute Suzane Pires broke through with a goal on a long shot for the Owls, despite the fact that Assumption goalie Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) got a hand on the ball. Edgin made six saves in the game for the Hounds, including five in the second half.

With the loss, the Hounds move to 2-2-1 and 0-2-1 in the Northeast-10. The Owls move to 5-0-0 with the victory and 3-0-0 in the Northeast-10.

Assumption plays its next game on September 17th at The College of Saint Rose at 1:00 p.m.
