Worcester, Mass. (September 20) -- The Assumption women's soccer team lost to Le Moyne College, 2-1, despite outshooting the Dolphins, 19-14.

The Hounds got off to a slow start, attempting four shots in a scoreless first half, before turning on the pressure after the break. Assumption attempted 15 of its 19 shots after the break, while putting constant pressure on the Dolphin defense.

In the 64th minute, the Hounds broke through, when Gabrielle Leal (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow) set Molly Kessler (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) up in front up the goalie and Kessler put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 Assumption lead.

That lead held until the 76th minute, when Christie Morano scored off a rebound after Assumption goalie Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) stopped a shot on a Dolphin breakaway.

The Hounds had chances to take the lead, but couldn't find a way to score in regulation.

In the third overtime minute, Morano found the back of the net on a deep shot from the left side. Gabriele Ariola assisted the goal.

The loss drops the Hounds to 2-4-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the Northeast-10. Le Moyne moves to 3-4-0 with the win and 2-4-0 in the conference.

The Hounds hit the field next on September 25 against Franklin Pierce in Worcester, Mass. The game will start at 1:00 p.m.
