Box Score Nyack, N.Y. (Sept. 3) -- The Hounds dropped Nyack College, 1-0, with possession soccer and a goal by junior midfielder Molly Kessler (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton).
Nyack and Assumption played a scoreless first half. Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) played the first half and made three saves.
The Hounds took control in the second half and according to head coach Glenn Melia (Air Force Academy '89), played a great ball possession game. In the 77th minute, Assumption capitalized on a service from junior back Kristin Bateas (West Hartford, Conn./William Hall), who set up Kessler for a one-timer and the lone goal of the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) replaced Edgin at halftime and made three saves.
The Hounds move to 2-0 with the victory and will take the field again on Sept. 9 at Pace at 4 p.m.
