Worcester, Mass. (October 10) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 final to No. 17 Saint Rose on Wednesday evening at the Multi-Sport Stadium. The Golden Knights are ranked number 17 in the latest NSCAA Division II Coaches' Poll, one of two Northeast-10 Conference teams to be nationally ranked.

The Greyhounds dominated action in the first half, while holding a slight edge in shots, 4-3 at the break. While each team put one shot on goal, Assumption had four scoring chances in the half, while Saint Rose had one.

Senior Caitlin Sewall (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth) nearly put the Greyhounds on the board in the first five minutes, but the Golden Knight keeper made a key save to keep the score knotted up at zero.

That score held until the half as the teams took a scoreless tie into intermission.

Assumption had a chance to break the tie in the 51st minute on a free kick from about 20-yards out, but the Greyhounds couldn't convert, and Saint Rose broke the tie in the 53rd minute. The Golden Knights added another goal in the 82nd minute for the 2-0 final.

Assumption keeper Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) finished with four saves in the loss, as Assumption falls to 3-6-3 overall and 3-4-3 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Saint Rose improves to 10-1-2 and 7-1-2 in league action.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 against Bentley University. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
