Box Score Worcester, Mass. (March 24) -- On Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Stadium, the Assumption men's lacrosse team fell to visiting Saint Michael's by a 10-3 final in Northeast-10 Conference action. Saint Michael's now holds a 22-0 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1990.
Assumption fell behind by a 3-0 margin early before Tim Roy (Avon, Conn./Avon) put the Hounds on the board with an even-strength goal in the final minutes of the first quarter for a 3-1 score. The second quarter belonged to Saint Michael's as Marty Vanzo scored three goals in that period alone to make it a 7-1 score at the half. The Purple Knights pushed the lead to as high as 10-1 before two late Assumption goals made it a 10-3 final.
Matt Palubicki (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) made seven saves in the loss, while Chris DeMairo had six saves in his fifth win of the season.
Assumption falls to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the Northeast-10, while Saint Michael's has now won four straight and sits at 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the league. Assumption is now on a two-game road trip as the Hounds travel to Pace and Franklin Pierce for a pair of Northeast-10 Conference games.
