Box Score Syracuse, N.Y. (April 21) -- On Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, the Assumption College men's lacrosse team dropped a 22-2 final to No. 2 ranked Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference play. With the loss, the Hounds fall to 2-10 overall and 1-7 in Northeast-10 play. The Dolphins remain undefeated at 14-0 overall and 9-0 in the league, clinching the regular-season title.
Le Moyne led by an 8-0 margin after one quarter before freshman Ty Martina (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) got the Hounds on the board to open the second period with his fourth goal of the season. The Dolphins kept up the offensive outburst though and led by a 10-1 margin at the halftime break.
Le Moyne opened the third quarter with six straight goals to lead by a 16-1 spread before freshman Garrett Smith (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) ended the scoring run with his 25th goal of the season to make it a 16-2 score with 5:09 left in the third period.
Leading 18-2 heading to the fourth period, the Dolphins added four goals in the fourth quarter to account for the 22-2 final score.
Sophomore Matt Palubicki (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) took the loss for the Hounds in net as he split time with freshmen Will Contento (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) and Tommy Carmichael (Wayland, Mass./Wayland).
Assumption is back in action on Wednesday evening, hosting Saint Anselm for a 7 p.m. start at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
