Box Score Garden City, N.Y. (September 26) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team played Adelphi University to a 1-1 tie after double overtime on Wednesday evening.
The Greyhounds move to 2-4-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while Adephi moves to 5-2-2 overall and 2-2-2 in league action.
Scoreless at halftime, the Greyhounds struck first as Paige Radomski crossed the ball in front of the net for junior Andrea Bates (Holden, Mass./Wachusett), who finished from about five yards out at the 47:17 mark in the game. The goal was her fifth of the season.
Adelphi answered back with a goal of their own as Kaitlin Monteith beat Assumption keeper Allison Bruder (Sandy, Utah/Juan Diego Catholic) at the 58:52 mark in the game. Bruder made four saves in the tie.
The teams played scoreless from that point on, with the game ending in a tie after two overtime periods.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 as the team will play host to Southern New Hampshire University. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
