Worcester, Mass. (October 4) -- The Assumption College women's soccer team shut out Southern New Hampshire by a score of 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Stadium to continue their win streak, now at seven. Senior Kelsey Imondi (Warwick, R.I. / Toll Gate) led Assumption, scoring both of the Hounds' goals on the day.
With the win, Assumption is now 7-1 overall and remains the only team to be undefeated in the NE-10 (6-0). The Penmen drop to 3-5-1 overall (1-4 NE-10).
Imondi gave the Hounds the lead just 6:34 into the first period, kicking the ball from the top of the box high into the net, just over the hands of Penmen keeper Autumn Scanlon.
The Hounds held onto the lead for the duration of the first period and headed into locker room maintaining the 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Assumption limited the Penmen to just three shots in the period and scored the insurance goal at the 62 minute mark. Junior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) took a corner kick from the left side and launched it to the center, where Imondi headed it into the net for her third goal of the season.
Overall, the Hounds notched 20 shots, six on goal, compared to 10 shots, five on goal, for Southern New Hampshire.
Senior Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro) tallied five saves between the posts, registering her fourth shutout of the season.
Offensively, it was Radomski who led Assumption with seven shots, two on goal, followed by Imondi who posted four shots, two on goal.
The Hounds are set to return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when they travel to Le Moyne for a 3 p.m. contest. Assumption has one more road game, Stonehill on Oct. 11, before they return home to face the number one team in the nation, Saint Rose.
