Syracuse, N.Y. (October 7) -- After a six-game winning streak, the Assumption College women's soccer team fell to Le Moyne on the road on Tuesday by a score of 2-1. The loss marks the first for the Hounds in Northeast-10 Conference play, rendering them 7-2 overall (6-1 NE-10) while the Dolphins improve to 5-5-1 overall (3-3-1 NE-10).

The Dolphins got out to a quick start in the match, earning a 1-0 lead just 11:16 into the first period. Le Moyne's Lindsey Bakal netted the first goal of the game, assisted by Kelly Ristoff, after Assumption keeper Rachel Edgin (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Whitesboro) attempted to thwart a shot effort, stepping about 25 yards outside the goal. Bakal was able to get the shot past Edgin and into the empty net to put the Hounds down by one.

Despite three Hound corner kicks in three minutes, it was Le Moyne who tallied the next score of the game, this time from Ristoff. From about 12 yards out, Ristoff got off a shot that made its way to the back of the net, sending the Hounds to the locker room down 2-0, marking the first time this season Assumption has trailed by two. 

Entering the second period in unfamiliar territory, the Assumption offense began to heat up. The Hounds out-shot the Dolphins 12-7 in the second period while freshman Amanda Arnold (Dayton, Maine / Thornton Academy) narrowed the deficit to one at the 63:55 mark. Arnold lined up from approximately 16 yards out and fired a shot into the upper left corner of the net to give Assumption hope for a comeback.

Arnold's goal would, however, be the final of the match as Le Moyne retired the Hounds to put an end to the Assumption win streak. 

The two squads concluded the match even with 18 shots apiece. Le Moyne landed 10 shots on goal compared to eight for the Hounds. Assumption did, however, hold a significant advantage in corner kicks, 9-2. 

Edgin posted eight saves on the day compared to seven for Dolphin keeper Tori Corsaro.

The Hounds return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Stonehill for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
