-The Lead: The Assumption College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 final to defending NE-10 Champions Saint Rose on Saturday on the road. Senior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) scored Assumption's lone goal in the 37th minute for her seventh of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds kicked off scoring in the match when Radomski took a pass from sophomore Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) at 37:03 from the middle. Radomski found the lower right of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
-Just two minutes later, the Golden Knights responded with the equalizer after an Assumption foul allowed a Saint Rose placed kick within goal distance. Amanda Vasquez kicked the ball into the middle where Elisa Galbiati headed it into the net, 1-1.
-The squads went into halftime tied but Saint Rose took the 2-1 lead nearly eight minutes into the second period and followed it up with another goal just nine minutes later (61:41) for the 3-1 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Radomski led the Hounds with four shots, three on goal.
-Junior Jaclyn Tomasello (Halifax, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional), freshman Jessica FitzGerald (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) and Arnold each added one shot on the day to contribute to Assumption's seven total.
-Saint Rose's Morgan Burchhardt led all players with nine shots while Jennifer Busk tallied three shots on goal.
-The Golden Knights outshot the Hounds 12-4 in the first half and 10-6 in the second for a total of 22-10. Saint Rose also tallied four corner kicks to Assumption's three.
-Senior Emily Kuzma (East Haven, Conn. / East Haven) registered five saves in her 90 minutes between the posts, compared to six for Saint Rose keeper Madison Taylor.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
-With her goal on Saturday, Radomski now totals seven goals on the season and is tied for third in the NE-10. She currently leads the league with nine assists.
-Radomski is also nationally ranked in several categories including total assists (2nd, 9) assists per game (4th, 0.90), total points (21st, 21) and game-winning goals (22nd, 3).
