THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College women's soccer team closed its season on Friday night with a loss to defending NE-10 Champion Saint Rose on the road by a final score of 3-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Hounds scored first to take a 1-0 lead when sophomore Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) dribbled past a Saint Rose defender and launched a perfect shot into the top left corner of the net. Arnold was assisted by sophomore Jessica FitzGerald (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) on the play.

-Just seven minutes later, Saint Rose tied it when Morgan Burchhardt flicked the ball over the head of junior goalkeeper Emily Kuzma (East Haven, Conn. / East Haven) to send the teams into halftime 1-1.

-The squads remained tied for 23 minutes of the second half before Saint Rose's Jennifer Busk scored the go-ahead goal after Kuzma nearly tallied the save.

-Under 10 minutes later, Saint Rose's Morgan Burchhardt scored the insurance goal for the Golden Knights, posting the 3-1 final at 77:04. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Arnold, along with senior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional), led the Hound offense with two shots apiece while junior Emily Hill (Dedham, Mass. / Dedham), junior Jaclyn Tomasello (Halifax, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) and sophomore Carolyn Cook (South Hamilton, Mass. / Hamilton-Wenham Regional) each posted one.

-Kuzma notched two saves in her 90 minutes between the posts.

-Burchhardt led the Golden Knights with five shots, three on goal while keeper Madison Taylor posted one save in her 90 minutes.

-Saint Rose outshot the Hounds 14-7 overall, 5-1 in the first and 9-6 in the second half. Saint Rose also edged Assumption in corner kicks, 9-3. 

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

-Freshman Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year on Friday for her impressive performance in her inaugural season that included 19 points on eight goals and three assists. She also earned spots on the All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team.

-Radomski and Arnold were named to the NE-10 First Team this season. Radomski finished first in the NE-10 with 27 points on nine goals and nine assists while Arnold notched 25 points on 10 goals and five assists.

-Radomski also finished the season nationally ranked in seven categories, including ninth in the nation in assists per game (0.56) and 13th in total assists.

-Freshman Ania Spina (Wallingford, Conn. / Mark T. Sheehan) was also named to the All-Rookie squad for her efforts in 2015 that included seven points on two goals and three assists. Spina was also the only freshman to play in all 18 games for the Hounds, including 16 starts.
