HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After a Carey layup pulled Assumption within 7-6 midway thru the first quarter, the Pioneers answered with a 7-0 run over just 2:09 for a 14-6 edge after a Ratley three. The Hounds trailed by double digits after a Gibbs jumper with 7:45 left in the second and eventually trailed by 12 before closing the period on a 13-4 run to make it 35-32 at the break.

- In the fourth quarter, the Hounds trailed by a 60-55 margin with just 1:11 left in the regulation before forcing the extra sessions. Stoddard and Impellizeri knocked down free throws and with 13 seconds left, the Hounds called timeout trailing by three. This set the stage for Stoddard, who knocked down the contested three with a Pioneer defender in her face with 0.4 seconds remaining.

- After a quiet first overtime, the Hounds tied the game at 68-68 in the second overtime after a three-pointer from Stoddard. The Hounds used nine free throws over the final 1:20 of the game to come away with the 77-71 road win.

UP NEXT:

- Assumption returns to action on Saturday, January 2nd as the Hounds resume Northeast-10 play with a 1 p.m. road game at Merrimack.
