Box Score

THE BASICS:

-Score: American International 2, Assumption 0

-Records: Assumption (4-2, 2-2 NE-10); American Int'l (3-3, 2-1 NE-10)

-Location: Worcester, Mass. (Multi-Sport Stadium)

-The Lead: After 47 minutes of scoreless play, the Assumption College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 final to the visiting American International Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night to fall to 2-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Neither squad was able to score in the first half, sending both teams to the locker room 0-0.

-Just 2:10 into the first half, AIC got on the board and took a 1-0 lead when the Yellow Jackets' Alyssa Werbicki coaxed junior goalie Emily Kuzma (East Haven, Conn. / East Haven) out of the net. Werbicki managed to skirt past Kuzma on the left and touch the ball into the right side of the net for the advantage.

-The Hound offense was sparked by the deficit and sophomore Amanda Arnold (Saco, Maine / Thornton Academy) rattled off two shots within two minutes (47:52 and 49:53), both saved by former Greyhound Rachel Edgin in goal. Arnold got off another shot at the 51-minute mark but it sailed wide.

-Both Assumption and AIC put in three substitutes to relieve players on the field at the 78-minute mark and, just over one minute after entering the game, AIC's Rachel Brown lofted the ball from 25 yards over Kuzma's head for the final goal of the game (80:19).

BEHIND THE NUMBERS:

-Senior Paige Radomski (Kingston, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) led the Greyhounds with eight shots, two on goal, while Arnold put up seven shots, four on goal, on the night.

-Juniors Nikki Callini (West Springfield, Mass. / West Springfield) and Jaclyn Tomasello (Halifax, Mass. / Silver Lake Regional) each posted four shots on the day.

-Werbicki led the Yellow Jackets with three shots, all on goal, and one goal for AIC.

-Assumption outshot AIC 26-12 including holding a 15-4 advantage in the first half. The Hounds also collected eight corner kicks compared to none for the Yellow Jackets.

-Kuzma tallied six saves between the posts for Assumption while Edgin collected nine for AIC.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

-Eight shots marks the most in one game for Radomski this season while seven is the most for Arnold this season.

-Six saves ties Kuzma's career best between the posts, which she also achieved against Bentley and Southern Connecticut this season.

-The Greyhounds faced former goalkeeper and 2014 NE-10 Second Team selection Rachel Edgin in the match. Edgin graduated from Assumption this past year and is pursuing a master's degree at AIC.

UP NEXT:
