The Lead: Junior Belle Ives (Topsfield, Mass./ Masconomet Regional) lead the team with two goals and an assist to help Assumption earn its third conference win over Southern New Hampshire University, on a chilly Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ives opened the scoring in the first half when she was able to pick up a loose ball in front of the net and send it past Penmen goaltender Melanie Rennie in the ninth minute. The score remained 1-0 at the half, despite a significant Assumption scoring advantage.
- Hound freshman Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers) made it 2-0 in the 39th minute when she intercepted a pass at the 30-yard line went in for a a breakaway where she snuck the ball past Rennie into the lower right corner.
- Just two minutes later Ives crossed a ball to Meghan Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./ Notre Dame), who was able to tip the ball through Rennie's pads for the 3-0 lead.
- Ives tallied her second goal three minutes later, when she drove a ball from the middle of the circle which ricochoted off a Penmen defender and into the net
- In the 66th minute, Southern New Hampshire forward Cassidy Huckins converted on a cross from teammate Laura van der Doorn which snuck by Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass. / Southwick Tolland Regional) to end her shutout attempt.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bodzinski made three saves in the win while Rennie tallied nine in the loss.
- The five points for Ives is a season high, while McCarthy has now scored in three consecutive contests.
- The Hound offense had 13 shots on goal and eight penalty corners compared to the Penmen offense which had four shots on goal and one penalty corner.

- Assumption will play on the road next Tuesday the 11th at American Internaitonal for a 7 pm Northeast-10 Conference match up.
