THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College men's lacrosse team suffered a 10-9 loss in overtime at Bentley on Saturday in a game that was tied seven times throughout the contest. Freshman Travis Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) led the Hounds with three goals on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Hounds earned a 1-0 lead with 4:33 left in the first quarter, tallying the only goal in the opening frame. Sophomore Aidan Murphy (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Christian Brothers Academy) found the back of the net unassisted.
-Bentley outscored the Hounds 4-2 in the second quarter. Bentley tied it with 11:30 on the clock before Assumption's Reid and Murphy scored back-to-back to reclaim the lead 3-1. The two goals came 29 seconds apart and included a man-up goal by Murphy.
-The Falcons scored three unanswered goals leading up to halftime to take a 4-3 lead at the break.
-Senior Connor Munisteri (Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) tied it up with 12:08 on the clock in the third before Bentley notched two more to take another two-goal lead, 6-4. Reid notched one more with 5:06 left in the third to bring Assumption back within one, 6-5.
-In the fourth quarter, freshman Dan Farrell (Norwood, Mass. / Norwood), assisted by sophomore Patrick O'Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y. / St. Dominic), scored early to tie the game 6-6.
-The squads traded goals throughout the remainder of regulation including a man-up goal by sophomore Patrick Ward (Canton, Mass. / Kents Hill School), assisted by Munisteri.
-Bentley scored with 3:06 left in regulation to take a 9-8 lead. The Falcons looked good for the victory until sophomore Dan Matisoff (Milton, Mass. / Milton) found the back of the net, unassisted, with just 12 seconds left on the clock to tie the game and send the teams to overtime.
-Bentley scored the gamewinner with 2:21 on the clock in overtime to claim the 10-9 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Reid led the Hounds with three goals on just six shots on goal.
-Munisteri also collected three points on one goal and two assists.
-Bentley outshot Assumption 35-25 on the day including a 14-6 advantage in the second quarter.
-The Hounds posted 26 ground balls to just 23 for the Falcons while also going 13-for-14 on clear attempts compared to just 11-of-18 for Bentley.
-Assumption was successful on 2-of-5 man-up opportunities compared to 1-of-3 for Bentley.
-Senior Nick Guarino (Avon, Conn. / Avon) won 10-of-22 faceoffs on the day.
-Freshman Colby Hamwey (West Yarmouth, Mass. / Wilbraham Monson Academy) takes the loss for the Hounds and is now 1-4 on the season.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
-Reid currently ranks fifth in the NE-10 with 18 goals and also in points (27).
-Munisteri is tied for fourth in the league in assists with 12.
-Hamwey is currently fourth in the conference with a 54.8 save percentage.
