THE BASICS:

-Score: Assumption 2, Le Moyne 18

-Records: Assumption (2-8, 2-5 NE-10); Le Moyne (12-0, 8-0 NE-10)

-Location: Syracuse, N.Y. (Ted Grant Field)

-The Lead: Sophomore Dan Matisoff (Milton, Mass. / Milton) scored the first goal of the game on Tuesday afternoon against #2 Le Moyne on Tuesday afternoon, getting the Assumption College men's lacrosse team out to a lead before falling to the undefeated Dolphins on the road by a score of 18-2. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Despite getting out to the early lead, the Hounds trailed by a score of 5-1 after the first quarter, including a goal by Le Moyne's Alex O'Brien with just six seconds left in the period.

-The Hounds held the Dolphins to four goals in the second quarter to make it 9-1 at the half.

-Following halftime, Le Moyne came out of the locker room and scored just 1:01 into the third quarter before Assumption responded 2:29 later. Senior Connor Munisteri (Setauket, N.Y. / Ward Melville) notched an unassisted goal to make it 10-2.

-Le Moyne completed the third quarter with a total of four goals and added five more in the fourth for the 18-2 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Munisteri led the Hounds with five shots, all on goal, on the day. Matisoff added two shots on goal.

-Junior Jack Drapeau (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) notched the Hounds' only caused turnover on the day while the Dolphins posted just four.

-The Greyhounds were outshot 45-22 overall and turned the ball over 16 times, compared to 10 for Le Moyne. 

-The Assumption defense notched 12 saves to Le Moyne's 11.

-The Hounds collected 23 ground balls, just three less than Le Moyne.

-The Dolphins went 3-for-6 in man-up opportunities while Assumption failed to convert on two.

-Freshman John Demott (Syracuse, N.Y. / Corcoran) started the game for the Hounds and collected seven saves in 30 minutes. He was replaced by Hamwey in the second half who notched five saves. Both goalies gave up nine goals and Demott takes the loss, slipping to 1-4 on the season.

-For Le Moyne, Alex Krawec improves to 12-0 in net, allowing two goals and turning aside five shots in 45 minutes. He was replaced by Tyler Hall for the fourth quarter who collected six saves in 15 minutes.

UP NEXT:

-Assumption is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 16 when it hosts Saint Anselm at the Multi-Sport Stadium for a 1 p.m. faceoff. The game will mark the first of two home contests in a row as the Hounds will also host NE-10 opponent Merrimack on Wednesday, April 20.
