THE BASICS:

The Lead: The Hounds struggled to get their offense going Wednesday night, scoring just once in the first half, and though they scored five times in the second it was too little too late as Molloy came away with a 12-6 victory on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Molloy opened the scoring at 12:12 with a goal from Tim Steinman. Assumption answered nearly 10 minutes later with a goal of their own from Patrick Ward (Canton, Mass. / Kents Hill School). The Hounds conceded a goal with six seconds left in the half, ending the first period down 2-1.
- The Lions dominated the second, scoring in the first two minutes with a goal from Jon Camposa. He extended the Lions' lead to 4-1 and Assumption was unable to score in the period as Molloy added two more for a 6-1 advantage at the break.
- Travis Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) cut the deficit to 6-2 with a goal at the 13:47 mark to start the third, but the Lions scored three times in the next ten minutes to extend their lead to 9-2. Trevor Kennedy (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue) got one back for the Hounds with 04:29 left in the third, but the Lions answered again with 01:25 left to end the half. Molloy led 10-3 at the end of the third.
- Brett Jennings (Montgomery, N.Y. / Valley Central High School) ended the scoring drought for the Hounds, scoring at the 09:19 mark on an assist from Dan Farrell (Norwood, Mass. / Norwood) . The Lions put another one on the board at 07:50, until Assumption answered 10 seconds later with a goal from Connor Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) for his first career goal. Camposa continued his strong showing, tallying his fifth of the game with 05:51 left in the game. Reid got one back for the Hounds with 02:52 left providing the 12-6 final
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption was outshot 36-22 in the contest, as Molloy had 26 shots on net while the Hounds only had 11 shots on target. The Greyhounds won face-offs 15-5, but turned the ball over 22 times compared to Molloy's 12.
- T. Reid led the Hounds with two goals on four shots. Brother Connor picked up 10 ground balls and won 15 of 20 face-offs, while Mike Leonard (Westwood, Mass. / Westwood) and Nick Crespo (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) each forced two turnovers respectively.
- Colby Hamwey (West Yarmouth, Mass. / Wilbraham Monson) had a strong performance in net, recording 14 saves with a 54.0 save percentage. Ryan Toomey picked up the win, tallying five saves on 11 shots.
