THE BASICS:

The Lead: Assumption led 8-4 after three quarters and then 9-6 with four minutes left, before Saint Anselm forced overtime with three goals in the final 3:30 to tie it 9-9. The Hawks then won at 2:54 of overtime to complete the comeback and earn the 10-9 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Brett Jennings (Montgomery, N.Y. / Valley Central High School) gave Assumption a 1-0 lead at 8:30, before consecutive Saint Anselm goals put the home team in front 2-1. Jennings answered with an unassisted goal with 1:43 left and Travis Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) scored with just 12 seconds remaining for a 3-2 lead after a quarter.
- The Hawks tied the game up early in the second, though Patrick Ward (Canton, Mass. / Kents Hill School) pushed it to 4-3 at 5:23. Saint Anselm evened it 4-4 at 3:45, but Dan Farrell (Norwood, Mass. / Norwood) scored twice in just a six-second span in the last 40 seconds of the period for a 6-4 lead. Reid then tallied a goal with only three seconds remaining for a 7-4 lead going into the break.
- Junior Dan Matisoff (Milton, Mass. / Milton) scored the lone goal of the third, with 5:37 left, to give the Hounds an 8-4 advantage. The Hawks closed the gap with two with consecutive goals to open the fourth, before Jennings scored at 4:38 for a 9-6 lead. Saint Anselm responded with 3:24 left and then again 14 seconds to make it a 9-8 contest. Finally, with just 15 seconds left James Olson scored an unassisted goal to even the game 9-9 and send it to overtime.
- The Hawks won the only faceoff of overtime and held it for a minute, before Alex Pacitti was able score the game-winner unassisted.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm held a 38-29 shot advantage in the contest and picked up more ground balls (25-22), but Assumption held the Hawks to 0-for-4 on the man-up and the Hounds won 12 of 23 face-offs.
- Reid led the offense with two goals and three assists while Jennings had a hat trick. Connor Reid (Raynham, Mass. / Bridgewater Raynham) won 12 of 23 face-offs while picking up a team-high six ground balls.
- Colby Hamwey (West Yarmouth, Mass. / Wilbraham Monson Academy) was saddled with the loss as he made 16 saves while allowing ten goals in 61:06. Luca DeAngelo earned the win by stopping seven shots and giving up nine goals.
