THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The women's track & field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic Invitational on Friday, before taking part in the Tufts Stampede today, taking down four records along the way.

HOW IT HAPPENED: JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC

- Sophomore Madeleine Iassogna (Marietta, GA / Blessed Trinity Catholic) broke the first record of the weekend for Assumption, as she raced to an 18^th place finish in the 500 meters with a time of 1:19.25.

- In the 5000 meters, senior Antonia Pagliuca (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veteran's Memorial) finished 16^th, shattering the program record with a time of 17:12.90, placing her 11^th nationally in the event. Classmate Courtney Fisher (Peterborough, N.H. / Contoocook Valley Regional) and Megan Corbeil (North Smithfield, R.I. / Mount Saint Charles Academy) also competed in the 5000, placing 34^th and 44^th respectively with times of 18:11.40 and 19:08.14.

- The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of freshman Emma Santee (Westerly, R.I. / Westerly), junior Abby Jones (Arlington, Mass. / Arlington), sophomore Emily Roxo (Uxbridge, Mass. / Uxbridge) and Iassogna combined to place 10^th with a program record time of 3:59.58.

- Sophomore Kialeigh Marston (Standish, Maine / Bonny Eagle) just missed out on a program record, finishing 36^th in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:10.41, less than a second away from the record.

- Senior Elizabeth Sullivan (New Bedford, Mass. / Bishop Stang) competed in the 1000 meters and placed 32^nd, clocking in with a time of 3:06.35, while classmate Sara Amato (North Attleboro, Mass. / Bishop Feehan) raced in the mile and finished 105^th with a time of 5:32.01.

HOW IT HAPPENED: TUFTS STAMPEDE

- Jones claimed another record at Tufts, winning the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4.5-inches. Freshmen Olivia St. Germain (Bangor, Maine / John Bapst Memorial) and Alexandria Montagano (Johnston, R.I. / La Salle Academy) both finished within the top-ten, placing fifth and tenth with jumps of 5 feet, 2.50-inches and 5 feet, 0.5-inches, respectively. Jones also raced in the 60 meter hurdles and placed seventh with a time of 9.72 seconds.

- Santee recorded a standout day for the Hounds, winning the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.00 seconds, before placing fourth in the 200 meter dash in 27.08 seconds. Sophomore Cassandra Miller (Hanover, Mass. / Hanover) finished 14^th with a time of 27.93 seconds, while Montagano placed 15^th, clocking in with a time of 27.94 seconds.

- Sophomore Nicole McMorrow (Milford, N.H. / Milford) led the Hounds in the triple jump, placing second after clearing a distance of 35 feet, 8-inches which was less than an inch off of first place.

- Freshman Katherine Eckerson (Simsbury, Conn. / Westminster School) competed in both the triple jump and long jump and was impressive, placing fourth in the triple jump (33 feet, 2-inches) and seventh in the long jump (16 feet, 4.5-inches). Classmate Meghan Murphy (Paxton, Mass. / Notre Dame Academy) also registered a top-ten finish in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 31 feet, 1.75-inches.

- In the shot put, sophomore Roxann Wint (Boston, Mass. / Newton North) led the Hounds with a sixth place finish with a distance of 38 feet, 7.5-inches, while Emily Casella (Athol, Mass. / Athol) finished eighth with a toss of 37 feet, 11.25-inches. They both also competed in the weight throw with Wint placing seventh (44 feet, 2-inches) and Casella finishing 11^th (40 feet, 4-inches).

- In the 400 meter dash, junior Maura Geoghegan (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) finished ninth with a time of 1:03.58, while sophomore Madison Soullier (Cumberland, R.I. / Cumberland) placed 15^th in 1:06.20.

- Freshman Tressa Novack (Scotch Plains, N.J. / Union Catholic) raced to an 11^th place finish in the mile with a time of 5:30.32, sophomore Alicia Polak (Lowell, Mass. / Lowell) placed 12^th in the 800 meter run (2:31.49) and classmate Emily Norman (Chelmsford, Mass. / Chelmsford) finished 15^th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 21:37.20.

BEHIND THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption finished sixth at the Tufts Stampede, recording 53 points. Stonehill won the meet (173.33 points), while Wesleyan (90), MIT (79), Amherst fourth (77.33) and Tufts (73) rounded out the top five.

UP NEXT:

- The Hounds return to action next Saturday when they compete at the NEICAAA Indoor Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.
