- The Lead: Senior Kallie Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) set the school's all-time goal record while giving her team a 1-0 lead, and her defense did the rest, posting an impressive shutout as Assumption ended the regular season with a 2-0 victory over Adelphi on the road Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Villemaire put Assumption on the board in the 26th minute. The senior took a cross from Johnna Caporuscio (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Hills) and headed it off the crossbar and into the net for the 1-0 lead.
- In the 54th minute, Caporuscio added to the lead with her third goal of the year. She got past the defense to go one-on-one with the keeper and finished it in the near post for a 2-0 advantage.
- Assumption's defense held firm and didn't allow a shot on goal over the final 20 minutes of action, providing the shutout.
