HOW IT HAPPENED

- Senior captain Diana Bruggeman (Natick, Mass. / Natick) got the scoring started early for the Hounds when Assumption won a penalty kicked because of a New Haven hand ball in the box. Bruggeman stepped up and buried the chance into the bottom left corner to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

-Bruggeman got her second goal of the game in the 18th minute when she received a pass from Annie Irwin (Norwood, Mass. / Montrose School) and beat the New Haven goal to double the Hounds lead.

-New Haven got on the board 10 minutes before the half when Madison Blonde headed home a goal past the defense and Julia Walsh (San Diego, Calif.) to make the game 2-1 headed into the half.

- Irwin scored to start off the second half when Chelsea Hoey (West Springfield, Mass. / West Springfield) slid a through ball through the middle of the Chargers defense and Irwin fired a low shot into the bottom right corner to give assumption an insurance goal.

- Kate Carleson (Plainfield, Conn. / Plainfield) created the 4-1 final when she took a pass from Bruggeman and buried her shot into the back of the net to give the Hounds the victory.
