-The Lead: The Assumption University Women's soccer team continued their 2021 season and tied in a 3-3 shootout on the road at Le Moyne on Tuesday evening. Assumption came back from a two goal deficit early and kept the pressure on the Dolphins all evening but weren't able to find a winner as the game ended in double overtime in a tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Le Moyne opened the scoring eight minutes into the game when the Dolphins caused a turnover in the Hounds defensive half and Amya Naja took a pass from Katharine Stanard and danced around freshman goal keeper Julia Walsh (San Diego, Calif.) and fired a shot into the open net to give Le Moyne the 1-0 lead.

-The Dolphins kept the pressure on and three minutes later won a corner kick and then a penalty off the corner when a player was fouled in the box. Ali Greco stepped up to take the penalty and buried it into the top left corner, beating Walsh to give Le Moyne the 2-0 lead early on.

-The Hounds were aggressive and quick to counter using their relentless speed up top and responded in the 34th minute when senior Diana Bruggeman (Natick, Mass./ Natick) fed a ball to Kate Carleson (Plainfiled, Conn./ Plainfield) who buried the look to bring the Hounds within one.

-The Hounds came out in the second half still on the attack trying to find an answer to tie Le Moyne. The tying goal came in the 61st minute when Carly Sevigny (Swansea, Mass./ Bishop Stang) slid a pass to Annie Irwin(Norwood, Mass./Montrose School) down the right side and Irwin moved into the box and sent a shot past the goalie to tie the game at 2-2.

-The Dolphins responded in the 71st when they won a corner and Ali Greco fired a header past Walsh to give them the 3-2 lead.

-The Hounds were able to tie the game again in the 79th minute when Irwin found Carleson with a pass on the left side and she fired a shot past the keeper to tie the game for the Hounds at 3-3.

-With the game in overtime, both goalies made big saves to keep both their teams tied with Walsh making a big save just at the start of the second overtime.
