-The Lead: The Assumption University women's soccer team trailed for the majority of the game on Wednesday evening but two freshmen scored two goals in a span of under two minutes to completely flip the script in the game and lock up the number four seed for the Hounds heading into the playoffs this weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Ravens scored first in the 28th minute when Delaney Farinha was able to jump on a turnover in the Hounds half and put a shot past Julia Walsh to give the Ravens the lead.
-Assumption was finally able to breakthrough in the 85th minute when freshman Haleigh Ward (North Kingstown, R.I.) sent a cross from the right side into the box to her classmate Ashley Wenzel (Kensington, Conn.) who finished her chance to tie the game at 1-1.
-In the 86th minute the Hounds were able to quickly take the lead and shock the Ravens when Wenzel this time from the left side, found Ward with a cross and she finished her chance to give the Hounds the lead and 2-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-The Hounds took 12 shots on the night, with seven on goal, while the Ravens registered nine shots with four on goal.
-Julia Walsh (San Diego, Calif) made three saves, while Gabby Calidonio made five saves.
-Assumption won five corners while the Ravens took three.
UP NEXT
-Assumption will host Franklin Pierce in a Northeast 10 quarterfinal matchup this Sunday, at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium in Worcester. Game time will be announced.
