HOW IT HAPPENED
-The first half was a back-and-forth defensive battle with each side registering one shot on target.
-The second half saw plenty of action as Assumption registered eight shots with four on target and the Owls putting up five.
-In the 54th minute Senior midfielder Diana Bruggeman (Natick,Mass./Natick) buried a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the year to put the Hounds up a goal.
- Southern Connecticut responded shortly after when Julia Alicea tied the game in the 62nd minute.
- The game was a deadlock for the rest of the second half sending the game to overtime where the Owls turned the pressure on putting up four shots in the first over time and two in double overtime, forcing freshman goalie Julia Walsh (San Diego, Calif) to make some big saves.
-Assumption put two shots on net in the second overtime but couldn't put the winner past the Owls goalie.
