Men's Lacrosse Concludes Season With Setback Against No. 15 Saint Anselm

Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's lacrosse team concluded its 2022 campaign with a 16-8 setback against No. 15 Saint Anselm at Brian Kelly Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Saint Anselm, which was playing for seeding in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, jumped out to a 6-1 advantage and never trailed in the contest. After Jackson Bulger made it a four-goal game with 4:46 left in the first, the Hawks ended the half on a 6-0 run to head into recess up by a commanding 12-2 score.

Sophomore Brady McNulty (Tolland, Conn.) opened the scoring in the third quarter at 14:07 to give the Greyhounds some momentum coming out of the break, but the Hawks responded with three straight tallies to end hope for a Greyhound comeback. Even though the hosts kept their opponent off the scoreboard for the remaining 16:50 of the contest, the 12-goal hole was just too much to climb out from.

Saint Anselm (9-4, NE10 7-3) had six different players tally a goal as part of an extremely balanced attack. Nick Larsen also tallied three assists and two ground balls, while Noah Larsen added two helpers. AJ Caprio picked up seven ground balls while winning 11 faceoffs, and Will Davis made 11 saves in the second half in relief. Starting goalie CJ Hart picked up the win by turning aside three shots in the first half.

Assumption got two goals apiece from sophomore Ryan Healey (Westwood, Mass.), junior Nolan Sheehan (Potomac, Md.) and Bulger. Sophomore Dylan Chapel (Griswold, Conn.) and freshman Nick Polymeros (Natick, Mass.) combined to win 17 faceoffs. Between the posts, sophomore Colin Malone (East Patchogue, N.Y.) and freshman Noah Mauretti (Rehoboth, Mass.) each logged 30 minutes and made six saves in the first and second half, respectively.

Assumption (4-9, NE10 3-7), which had its two-game winning streak snapped, is slated to return nine of its 10 regular starters along with more than 40 letterwinners next season.
