Minneapolis, Minn. -- The Hockey Humanitarian Award Foundation today announced 15 nominees for the 2023 Hockey Humanitarian Award. The award, which is celebrating its 28th season, is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her community at large community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.
"
Mike D'Ambrosio is a leader among leaders," stated Assumption Head Ice Hockey Coach
Michael Looney. "He is one of the hardest-working individuals I have had the privilege to coach. He gets the little things done in the classroom and on the ice and always carries his strong core values throughout the Assumption and Worcester communities. Throughout the time I have known Michael, he has remained steadfast on his calling to serve in the United States Navy. He leads 33-guys the right way on the ice and has been diligent in his call to serve our country by leading about 30-aspiring Naval Officers through training in the pool and on land each week. It should come as no surprise that our benefit game this season was spearheaded by Michael to honor all branches of the United States Military. "
D'Ambrosio has appeared in 78 games on the blue line for the Greyhounds. He has compiled nine goals and 27 assists for 36 career points. In the community, the Centreville, Md. Native has volunteered for Working for Worcester, the Shine Initiative, and Alzheimer's Awareness.
