NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Assumption University baseball team split their first game back north. The Greyhounds took game one 6-1 over Saint Anselm College before falling in the nightcap 6-3 at the New England Baseball Complex Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE - Assumption University 6, Saint Anselm College 1
Assumption jumped on the board in the bottom of the third inning, as
Jared Berardino just cleared the right field fence with his team-leading fourth homerun of the year, scoring
Jack Barry and Cole Durkin on the play.
Barry pushed the Greyhounds' lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning as he hit a moonshot over the leftfield fence. Saint Anselm would threaten in the top of the fifth, but a nice sliding play by Barry at second got the runner out at second to get
MacGuire O'Sullivan out of the jam.
After the Hawks got on the board in the top of the sixth, Assumption scrapped across two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Christopher Rabias scored on a wild pitch, while
Emilio Acosta scored on a
Jake Hamel sacrifice fly to center field.
MacGuire O'Sullivan went 7.0 innings allowing five hits and one walk while striking out four in 94 pitches.
GAME TWO – Saint Anselm College 6, Assumption University 3
Saint Anselm was the first team to get on the scoreboard, as Daniel Scolaro hit a line drive over the leftfield fence, putting the Hawks up 1-0 in the top of the second. Wil Panarello extended the visitor's advantage to 3-0 with a two-run shot to left-center field in the top of the fourth inning. Acosta responded for the Greyhounds in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run homerun to left.
The Hawks slowly extended their lead, plating one run in the fifth, one in the seventh, and one in the eighth, to go up 6-2. Barry scored on a Berardino RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 6-3, but Assumption could not tie the game.
Griffin O'Connor went 6.0 innings for Assumption, as he allowed four hits and struck out eight.
